Colin Kaepernick was born to mother Heidi Russo in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Rick Kaepernick and mother Teresa Kaepernick adopted young Kaepernick when he was just few weeks old.
Having lost two children due to heart defects. Thus the Kaepernick family were looking for a baby and got Colin.

At age 4 Kaepernick family moved to California by his new parents.
Kaepernick went to John H. Pitman High school and graduated from Nevada College with a bachelors degree in business management in 2010.

He started playing youth football played as a defensive end and a punter and was eventually selected as a quarterback in the youth team.
Colin was a nominee for All-State selection in football, basketball and baseball. He was the Most Valuable Player of the Central California Conference in football for leading his school to first playoff victory.
