Cancer is a preventable condition and one of the ways to prevent cancer is by avoiding the wrong foods that cause cancer and eating more of cancer-fighting foods.
In this post, I will be giving the list of cancer-causing foods to avoid. This is one of the most effective ways to have cancer because even if you are genetically prone to this condition, the right diet will help keep it at bay. Carcinogens are substances that cause cancer.

1. White Flour
Refined white flour has lost all its nutrients because of all the processes it went through and chlorine gas was used in bleaching it so that it will be more attractive.
It has a very high glycemic index, it causes a spike in your insulin levels and it is a source of simple sugars which serves as foods for cancer cells.
2. Refined White Sugar
This is the biggest cancer-causing food on the planet because they feed cancer cells in your body and cause them to multiply easily and fast. Examples of refined sugars used in most processed foods are high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), aspartame, and other refined sugars and artificial sweeteners.

Even brown sugar is a refined sugar because it is gotten from refined white sugar by just adding some of the molasses that were removed for color and flavor.
Refined sugars and the foods that contain them serve as foods for cancer cells, they cause a sharp rise in the levels of glucose in your bloodstream and they cause other problems and complications in your health.
The sugar canes used in making sugars are genetically modified. Healthy alternatives to refined sugar are organic honey, maple syrup, stevia, and coconut sugar.
Right now, oncologists are using diabetes medications to treat cancer, this is a sure sign that sugar feeds cancer cells.

3. Hydrogenated Oils
These are vegetable oils that are extracted through chemical processes from their source. They are chemically treated, in fact, more chemicals are added to enhance the smell and taste of these oils.
Most of these chemicals used are carcinogens and they alter the structure of your cells, this leads to growth and spread of abnormal cells, thus resulting into cancer.
4. Grilled Red Meat
Grilled meats, most especially hot dogs contain a carcinogen called heterocyclic aromatic amines. This compound triggers the formation of cancer in your body when you consume hot dogs regularly.

Also, when the meat is grilled to a pint of well-done, the molecular and chemical structure of the meat change and this also causes problems and complications in your body.
A better option is to cook or bake your meat and you can also prepare meat on a skillet than using a grill.
5. Farmed Fish
Do not eat fish that are raised commercially in a large pond or ponds because they are loaded with vaccines, growth hormones, pesticides, antibiotics, and chemicals that are carcinogenic.
Farmed fish have fewer amounts of omega-3 fatty acids when compared to their wild counterpart. Make sure the fish you eat is organic and caught from the river.

6. Genetically Modified Foods (GMOs)
GM foods are one of the leading causes of cancer today, the introduction of GM foods into the market has triggered lots of debates with health experts divided along both sides (pro and against).
Now, there is a lot of scientific evidence showing that GM foods are responsible for the increased rate of cancer in the society today.
Most experts now agree that these modified foods were not adequately tested before they were introduced into the market and the long-term risks were not also considered.

7. Soft Drinks
Soda and carbonated drinks are one of the major cancer-causing foods. They are made with high fructose corn syrup which has been confirmed to feed cancer cells.
The also contain a lot of other chemicals as preservatives, color, taste enhancers, and others which are carcinogens. They have no nutritional value, rather, they rob your body of the nutrients it got from other foods.
Those soda drinks with the label “diet” contain aspartame, a dangerous carcinogen that acts as rat poison in the human body.

8. Microwaved Popcorn
Popcorn is believed by health experts to be a leading cause of lung cancer. The processes the corn undergoes and the chemically-lined bag makes this common and well-loved food a carcinogen.
The corn and oil used in making popcorns are likely to be genetically modified. Even the fumes released from the artificial butter flavoring contain a toxic substance called Diacetyl which is poisonous to the human body.

9. Smoked, Salted, and Pickled Foods
These foods contain nitrates which are used as preservatives to elongate the shelf-life of the food but this substance accumulates in your body and it is not easily excreted.
They turn to toxins in your body and cause damage at the cellular and molecular level and also cause severe and life-threatening diseases like cancer.
When you cook smoke foods at high temperature, the nitrates in them are converted into more dangerous carcinogen called nitrites, this increases your risks of cancer.

10. Canned Foods
The cans in which processed foods are stored are lined with Bisphenol-A, also known as BPA. This chemical is dangerous, it is a carcinogen.
It triggers the formation of cancer in your body and in studies, it altered the brain cells of rats. Products containing this dangerous chemical apart from canned foods are thermal paper, plastics, dental composites, and water lines.
Avoid canned foods, make your own foods yourself.
